BIRD was registered as a Society on 10-01-1998 under the Societies Act XXI of 1860 with its registered office at 223, Prag academy Building , R.G.Baruah Road , Guwahati – 24, district Kamrup , Assam. Regd. No: KAM/240/G/498 of 1997-98. NITI Ayog Registration No. AS/2018/0184836. The NGO is also registered under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India (for foreign contribution) FCRA No. 020780071 dtd. 14-01-2012. And Registered 80-G 5 (vi) and 12-A of Income Tax.
BIRD as NGO is a non-profit making, non-political, democratic, social and charitable organization with broad aims and objectives as below.
- To render consultancy for identifying, planning and executing need- based development projects for government development agencies and others which may require the services of BIRD .
- To carry out socio-economic survey, field survey, experiments, trial and demonstration with training in the aspects of urban and rural.

Tree Plantation done on World Environment Day on 5th June, 2023 as instructed by Govt. of Assam. Free Lemon plant sapling were supplied and planted in two schools Viz. Kamarkuchi H.S.
